Early Notice Re: Boulder BowWow

This might be considered a trifle early, but, believe me, I'll keep reminding you:  The Boulder BowWow 10K and 5K Runs will be held this year on Sunday, October 7 at the Boulder Reservoir.  Proceeds from the race go directly to benefit two special non-profit organizations: Vets Helping Heroes, who provide professionally trained assistance dogs prepared by qualified instructors to every disabled American veteran or active-duty military personnel wounded in the post 9/11 conflicts, enabling them to return to a life of dignity and self-reliance, whether they are visually impaired or have other special needs that would benefit from an assistance dog; and the Orphans of AIDS Foundation, which provides for the care of children in South Africa and the KwaZulu-Natal region, who have been orphaned due to the AIDS virus.
Both races are open to runners and walkers, and each participant is encouraged to bring one or two (but no more) canine companions to go the distance with them.  One does not have to bring a canine to participate.  Furry friends that do not play well with others are encouraged to stay at home.  Aid stations and course marshals will be located on both courses. Aid stations will be stocked with Eldorado Artesian Springs water, Gatorade, doggie water pools, and a variety of refreshments, including power gels and doggie treats, plus portable toilets for humans and biodegradable pet waste bags for the dogs.  A medical tent and veterinarian will be on site at both the start and finish lines.  -  And there are all sorts of goodies and prizes available, not to mention the post-race fun and festivities.  For further information, please visit:  http://www.boulderbowwow.com/  It's good exercise in good company, and for a great cause!

Yesterday, the clouds were so low that the tops of the Foothills and the bottoms of the Flatirons were invisible.  Today, the skies are clear, and the Indian Peaks and Mount Audubon, which were brown on Sunday, are totally covered with fresh snow.  The kits are out on the patio, sunning.  This is my day off - and I plan to relax, but also get a little bit of cleaning done....
Hope you have a wonderful day!
