The weather folks were right, for once. At 5 last night, the local forecaster said the humidity was only at 29%, and that he thought the air wouldn't saturate enough for snow until around midnight. I had to visit the bathroom about 12:30, and peeked out the window before crawling back under the covers; it was snowing then, but the ground was still warm, so the snow was melting on the patio and the grass. We now have about 4.5 inches on the ground, and it's still coming down. I'm looking through the window as I type, and the wind is definitely blowing from the north - the snow is blowing diagonally across the back yard. There have been a lot of accidents on the roads, because the melted snow refroze as the temperature continued to drop, and there is ice under the snow in a lot of places. Since the snow is still falling at a steady rate, the plows are having a hard time keeping the roads clear. Then drivers turn off a plowed road into an unplowed road and/or parking lot, hit ice, and slide around again.... I'm glad I'm not going outside, walking around, today. It's currently 24 degrees outside, and the temp is supposed to keep falling to about 4 degrees tonight.
Lovey and Nedi both went out onto the patio this morning - Lovey stood just outside the patio door, looked around, sniffed, and came back in and crawled under the bed covers. Nedi played in the snow for a few minutes, trying to catch it as it fell, and then digging into it at the edge of the patio. Once the snow started to melt on his fur, he ran back inside. I did step out onto the patio and placed two piles of munchies for the squirrels and ravens on my wicker chair seats... Due to the cold, Rosie and Remy won't get walked today, and possibly not tomorrow, either. The choice is up to the owners and to the weather... The red kids develop packed snow balls in the fur around their toes and up their legs during snowy walks - and both of them dislike it.
I have a pot of chili simmering on the stove, the movie "Colorado Serenade" just ended, and I have plenty of transcribing to do.... (In the movie, I would swear that Eddie Dean rode off at the end, singing Home On the Range, while riding Trigger!) I hope the rest of you are having pleasant weather!
