Remy came downstairs as soon as he heard my key in the front door lock this morning; he's even brighter and more alert than yesterday (after the vet's visit), but the owners decided to keep him home this morning. I took Rosie over to Wonderland Lake and we had a blast, especially as she could move at her own pace instead of Remy's much slower one. Nedi demonstrated that he is a mighty hunter by facing down two of the young raccoons last night - they were on the patio and wanted in, and Nedi decided to guard the door. I finally swept the youngsters away with the broom (again), and closed the door. Nedi stayed plastered against it for another hour.
I head over to Alexy's this afternoon to stay with Cloudy and Shady - and Bradley Boo-boo. Bradley was born under the fir tree in the front yard, and he spends summer afternoons and winter mornings in the same nest he was born in. The "Boo-boo" part of his name has evolved over the past several years, as he always has a cut or a scrape, or he's limping... I always approach the house from the side, because if Brad is in his nest, he'll jump up and run, and it'll take a couple of hours for him to settle down and return. And you can look out the dining room window and watch him nap. It's cute.
A man returned to his home yesterday on Chincoteague Island. He had left the house with his father inside, along with three pit bull dogs - a mother and young dogs from one of her litters. When the man came home just before noon, he couldn't find his father. The last room he looked in was his father's bedroom - and there he found the man and the three dogs. The father is in critical condition after being Life Flighted to the Baltimore Trauma Center... If the father does not recover, we'll never know what actually happened. It's a senseless tragedy. The three dogs belong to the son, and not the man who was apparently attacked. The father has multiple injuries to both arms and both legs.
