Northern Herds Gathered; Misty Beach Walk Earlier

The Saltwater Cowboys rounded up the herds on the northern end of the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge yesterday.  After all ponies were checked by the veterinarian, the ponies left the north holding area this morning, and made the annual Beach Walk down the sandy strip between the breaking waves and the bushes and sea grass.  (I can remember when there were real, tall sand dunes along the route.)  After being greeted by the waiting crowd, the ponies walked down the road to the main Holding Pen close to Tom's Cove.  The foals' sires and dams will be noted, hooves will be trimmed on the older ponies, and, tomorrow, sale tags with numbers will be attached around the foals' necks.  If you're planning on buying a pony, be certain you know it's specific tag number.  -  Enough gab for now.  I'll let the photos do the talking!
