First, I'm upset because someone has been setting out raw hamburger laced with rat poison in the Gunbarrel Dog Park. There have been three verified cases of poisoning so far, and all dog owners who visit and utilize Dog Parks in and around Boulder are urged to be extremely vigilant. Banichi, my cat, was killed by rat poison 4 years ago. It's a terrible way for any animal to die - even rats. I hope the police, who were able to find several of the poisoned meatballs, are able to find and prosecute the culprit(s).
The 18-year-old "leader" of the two young men who beat Aaron Tuneberg to death was assaulted in jail on Monday. His cell mate was a 46-year-old, who asked the young man, "Are you the baseball bat kid?" When he received a proud, "Yes!" in response, he told the youngster he'd show him what it felt like to be beaten to death, and proceeded to attack him. It was broken up by police, and the younger man received medical treatment for bruises and abrasions. The police hope to keep him alone in his cell, after this incident.
I was amazed to hear of a young man in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, who apparently went berserk at a college party to celebrate the end of term on Monday night. Early Tuesday, Calgary police responded to a report of a knifing - they found 3 people dead and two more wounded (both died at the hospital). What seems incomprehensible was that the suspect was the son of a police officer in Calgary.
Here, in Boulder, a homeless woman was found dead on 4 April, near Boulder Creek. On 5 April, a homeless man was found dead near Boulder Creek on the University of Colorado campus. Yesterday, a man was found dead in a drainage ditch behind the local Target department store. And a woman in Longmont, who got into a fight with her husband and walked out of her home on Saturday night, was found dead in an alfalfa field yesterday. The first two deaths have been identified - but no cause of death has been released for any of these folks... What is happening?... Add that to the man who murdered his wife last night in Denver - she was on the telephone with a 911 Operator, who said her husband was suddenly acting very bizarre. He admitted killing his wife when the police arrived....
I was contacted this morning by a couple from Croatia who are interested in purchasing my friends' home on Emerald Road... I think the home was sold on Saturday, the first day it was on the market.
I need, and want, to hear and read some good news from somewhere - OK, Michael Phelps has decided to return to competitive swimming. And I really enjoyed the "surprise play" at the University of South Carolina's Garnet and Black Spring Football game, when USC basketball coach (and Olympic medal winner) Dawn Staley ran off the bench and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass for the Old Ball Coach - Steve Spurrier. Surely there is some good news, somewhere! And I do enjoy reading the news in the Wiltshire Gazette, which I receive daily from England. How about some good news from the United States?
