Lava Beds National Monument Photos

One of my favorite books has been Forlorn River by Zane Grey.  During the story, Ben Ide, his pard Nevada, and Native American friend, Modoc Jack, use the lava caves in northern California to trap wild horses. I was always thrilled by the descriptions of the area - here are photos from the Lava Beds National Monument - one taken in 1873, one in 1920, and the rest, much more recently....
