Just ran across your blog. My father is from Chincoteague as is his family back many generations, including Whealtons, Tarrs and Fletcher's. I spent nearly every summer visiting from the 50s through the 70s. I too remember the dialect. One time I had to translate for a friend who didn't understand a thing one of the natives said.
