In thoroughbred horse racing news, the owners of Maximum Security have asked that a judge review all the evidence in the case regarding the disqualification of their horse from first place to 17th in the running of the Kentucky Derby, and have him/her make the decision instead of going before a jury and having a trial. - And, after all the fall-out and discussions regarding the disqualification by the stewards of Maximum Security, there have been quite a few calls for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission to change their rules regarding the stewards' decisions and making appeals.
Also, On Saturday, 8 June, the third leg of the Triple Crown, The Belmont Stakes, will be run at Belmont in Elmont Park in New York. At the moment, a field of ten horses is anticipated, with seven of the ten having run in either the Kentucky Derby and/or the Preakness. Currently, the ten entries are expected to be: Tacitus, War of Will, Bourbon War, Master Fencer, Sir Winston, Intrepid Heart, Everfast, Spinoff, Tax and Joevia.
