Chilly, Clean-Up, & a Stupid Headline

We've got cloud cover today - and I don't believe that the temperature will get much higher than it is now (54). But that's OK. The weather guys are now saying a high of 29 on Sunday, with snow.... Brrrrrrrr! Lovey is curled up inside the hood of my sweatshirt, and Nedi is sprawled across the top of the cat tree. Remy had acupuncture this morning, and I felt pretty cruddy, so I just stayed home and did some research.... Had my cousin Frank traced back to an English emigrant who was born in 1854; now I've got that particular family back to 1687. That's progress, isn't it? Right now, I've hit a wall on John Norman, born in Netherbury, Dorset in 1687. I'll dig around some more in a couple of hours.
Clean-up efforts after Hurricane Sandy and the current northeaster are still on-going on Chincoteague. Volunteers will be clearing and cleaning the yards of the elderly and disabled, plus one of the cemeteries on Saturday. The Chincoteague Island EOC released the following: "VOLUNTEERS FOR POST STORM CLEANUP:  Mr. Brett Schoeberl is managing a group of volunteers to help the disabled or elderly with storm debris cleanup. They will meet at the Christ United Methodist Church Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Please stop by if you are available to help or contact Brett at 757-894-3658. Thank You!!!" If you can help out our neighbors, please do.
Yesterday, the local newspaper here in Boulder had headlines that a man had his arm "severed" in a Pit Bull attack. I shook my head when I read the story. Today, the headline says "Rottweiler Under Quarantine After Biting Man." Seems the man was out, running for exercise in his neighborhood, when he spotted three loose dogs.  He knew who they belonged to, so he called them, and they followed him back to their own house. The man knocked on the door; the man who lived there wasn't at home, but his female friend was. The lady opened the door, and two of the dogs trotted into the house. The Rottweiler paused when the man reached forward to shake the lady's hand - then lunged, and bit the man's arm. The man was treated and released at the local hospital. The girlfriend of the man who was bitten is the one who said his arm was severed, which it definitely was not. The Rottweiler is under quarantine to be certain he doesn't have rabies; the dog owner will probably get a ticket for allowing his dogs to roam at large.... Big fuss about nothing, essentially.
