The mochila, the special mail-pouch blanket that was switched from
horse to horse - the rider's weight kept it in place. All four
pouches had small padlocks attached to keep the mail safe.
Pony Express relay station at Simpson Springs, Utah today
This is the Hollenberg Pony Express station at Hanover, Kansas.
It is the only completely unchanged Pony Express station still in
existence (built in 1857), and is a living and working museum -
a part of the National Park Service.
