Old Photographs of Torhamn, Blekinge County, Sweden

This photo was not labelled, but was in Hanna Olsdotter's album.
He is plainly seen in the group photo (five down) on the right end of
of the back row - her brother, cousin, or uncle?

Family mending fishing nets in Torhamn (which means Thor's Harbor).
Not the Jonassons - but my grandfather was a well-known net-mender for
miles around Chincoteague....

The first Post Office in Torhamn - Hoger Johnsson was the mail carrier.

The steamship Imperator took passengers and freight on a regular
between 1898 and 1912.

The Logen Enighet - an abstinence group, and voting block, in Torhamn
in 1905.  I have five portraits of unidentified members, including
the photo at the top of these pictures....

Pehr Holgersson's general store in Torhamn

The Torhamn public school, built in 1882 - my grandfather and great-uncle
attended classes here.

Old Photos Found

My sister has found the cache of old Swedish and Mom's family photographs that I had asked her to keep.  I'll be scanning them them soon, and placing all our family photos on memory sticks to give to the family.  I am busily working on Sarah's baby quilt, too.  Walking back from Kathy's last night, I saw Mariyah and her two daughters in their yard.  I was invited to meet Paulina's new pets, a pair of rabbits - so I met Chocolate and Blackberry, and played with them for a bit.  I was able to tell the family that both of the new pets are girls, and we spent quite a while talking about children and pets.  It was fun.
