It's cool and cloudy here in Boulder, with a temperature of 30 degrees. I'm still in shock over yesterday's mass killing in Connecticut. For me, it is unimaginable...
The kits are running in and out, disturbing the raven and crow families, and playing tag with the squirrels. It's snowing up on the Continental Divide, and the ski resorts in southwestern and northwestern Colorado are getting much-needed snow. Vail should be getting about 15 inches of snow in the next 24 hours. We here on the eastern slope are still in a drought setting. The price of hay, for horses and livestock, has sky-rocketed due to the drought, and has led to an out-break of hay thefts from farms around the state.
If you live in or near Boulder County and are thinking about adding a cat to your family, the Humane Society of Boulder Valley has a wonderful deal for you. There are over 60 adult cats available for adoption (adult designating an age of 6 months, or older) this morning and every adult feline is available for adoption for free. The majority of these cats have been placed at the Humane Society because their owners were forced to move and couldn't take the cat with them, or because, due to economic hardship, the previous owner could not afford to keep their cherished pet. If you have the space, time, love and money available to take in a homeless cat - without an adoption fee - please do so. Free adult cat adoptions will occur through December 21, 2012.
