It's almost 9 a.m., and we're still at 48 degrees, with drizzle. I think Alexy brought British weather back with her... The kits have been running in and out since 6 this morning, but I just closed the door and the window, as it's 55 inside the apartment. I'll have to put long pants on, if the temperature doesn't rise. The weather is helping the fights with wildfires throughout the west - in California, New Mexico, and, yes, Colorado. With high winds Monday, power lines sparked a fire in a 48-foot tall tree between Conifer and Evergreen. Since the wind was blowing at 35 to 45 mph, four square miles around the original combustion site were evacuated. The winds died down, and only 10 acres burned - luckily. We're supposed to clear up, dry out, and get much warmer for the weekend. (Hooray!)
This afternoon, the stewards will draw the post positions for Saturday's Belmont Stakes, and, as soon as I'm aware of them, they will be posted. Orb, Oxbow, Vyjack, Giant Finish, Palace Malice, Will Take Charge, Incognito, Frac Daddy, Freedom Child, Golden Soul, and the filly Unlimited Budget have been declared to run. Palace Malice will run without blinkers in the Belmont....
