Odds And Ends...

First, this is one Easter Egg Hunt I will not be attending today:

Today is the day that my friend, Alexy, puts her house on the market.  It's located at 2200 Emerald Road in north Boulder, and is within 5 blocks of the Waldorf Pre-School, Crestview Elementary, Centennial Middle School, and the Tara High School of Performing Arts.  It's a wonderful house set in a glorious yard that contains over an acre of land; and it also contains the terminal of an irrigation lateral ditch of the Silver Lake Irrigation Ditch Company, which really cuts down on the watering bill.  This is a view of the rear of the house, barely a quarter of the way into the very deep, and wide, back yard....

Tomorrow there will be an open Memorial Service for Aaron Tuneberg, the developmentally disabled 30-year-old, who was killed  by two 18-year-olds for his X Box and his bicycle.  Aaron rode with the Boulder Touring Thursday bike group every week.  They will hold a Memorial Ride for Aaron on 24 April.  This is a photo of Aaron  putting on his zoot suit coat before joining one of the Thursday evening rides:

Today is the running of the two final Kentucky Derby prep races - the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland and the Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn.  The jockey list for the Arkansas Derby consists of most of the greatest riders of our time - Gary Stevens, Mike Smith, Jon Court, Calvin Borel, Joe Bravo, Joel Rosario, and Luis Saez.  Both of the races should be eye-openers and very hard-run.  ....  Veteran jockey Edgar Prado was involved in a training accident yesterday; the colt he was riding threw his head back and gave Prado quite a blow to the head.  Edgar was knocked unconscious and fell to the track.  He has a hairline fracture of C-7, one of his cervical vertebrae, and will not be riding for at least 30 days.  ....  And Wise Dan made his track return a winning one, taking the Maker's Mile by 3/4 length yesterday.  Wise Dan has been named Handicap Horse of the Year for the past two years, and hopes to tie Forego's record of three back-to-back titles. (Forego won in 1974, 1975, and 1976.  And he was the full-blooded brother of quite a few of our horses' sire, down in Micanopy - Forego was the "uncle" of my baby, Court Jester....)
And, finally, it's cloudy but warm today.  The weather gurus are now saying that Boulder will get 4 to 8 inches of snow tomorrow....  It'll definitely be interesting!
