Swallow's Nest Castle started life in 1877 - the current incarnation is based on the 1912 building, which was lost in an earthquake.
The Castle sits on the Aurora Cliffs of Cape Ai-Todor, near Gaspra, in the Ukraine.
The castle now sits upon a concrete pad on the cliff.
Real cliff swallows nests - made of mud and spit, lined with grass. Cliff swallows are messy nesters, as they kick their chicks' poop out the door; but they keep the number of flying insects much lower. Females lay one to six eggs each nesting season. Businesses on the west coast of the USA do not like them as neighbors.
